A gentle guide through the next steps

Introductory call

I offer a free, 20-minute introductory call to help you get to know me and share what's on your mind. This call is optional and gives you a chance to ask questions about counselling and discuss your concerns. There's no obligation to continue—your comfort and choice are important. If you feel it's right for you, we can move forward with your first session.

First Session

Your first appointment is designed to see how we work together, understand your needs and explore your goals for counselling. This is not a diagnostic session—my focus is on listening, understanding your experience, and collaboratively setting the scope of our work.

We’ll also discuss the limits of our work together and confidentiality. While our sessions are confidential, there are a few important exceptions:

  • With your consent (e.g. if you request me to contact your GP)

  • If there is a risk to your safety or the safety of a third party

  • If required by law

You’ll also hear about my commitment to clinical supervision, which supports the quality and ethical standards of my practice. All client information is fully anonymised during supervision to protect your privacy.

This session is a chance for you to ask questions, share your concerns, and decide whether working together feels right for you. There’s no pressure to continue—your comfort and choice are central to our process.
